Our background in breeding was in a different field...for years we bred and showed purbred cattle. Our breeding program made use of Natural breeding, artificial insemination, and embryo transfer, which taught us a lot about genetics.
As is the case on so many ranches, our children grew up and moved away for college. We decided it was time to call it quits and move closer to town. It was at this point we decided that we wanted a dog with less excercise requirements.
Having lived in England, I was quite taken with the Bulldog. So with absolutely no information about the breed, we went out and bought a puppy, only to become victims of a puppy mill breeder. We learned a lot of lessons the hard way with that little guy. However we were hooked. We love bulldogs and so we decided that we would use the knowledge we had acquired breeding cattle to do our part to improve the breed.
This time we did a lot more research. We read books, talked to tons of reputable breeders, scoured web pages, attended dog shows, joined clubs and groups, etc.... We decided that we wanted to show bulldogs. We missed showing cattle, and figured that the concept was the same...you just didn't have to watch where you stepped in the ring quite as much! LOL
We are very proud of the genetics we are putting together. We breed for type, quality, soundness, health, disposition, and because we show, the AKC Standard is our main guideline.
